Nigerian troops recaptures Banki from Boko Haram

The Nigerian troops have recaptured the fishing town of Banki town in Borno state.
Regaining control of the town from Boko Haram was important to the military, owing to the major economic and trading activities between Nigeria, Cameroon and Central African countries that takes place in the town.


The troops sacked the famous Boko Haram Islamiyah school building while they also destroyed 7 Boko Haram camps and  successfully detonated 7 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
During the operation to liberate the town, several Boko Haram insurgents were killed and  several others were captured alive between Banki junction and Ngorosoye.
The recapture of the strategic town was made possible by a collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and the Cameroon Army.
