Gov Ajimobi Settles Unpaid Salary Issue With Oyo Workers

Following an agreement with the state government, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State chapter, on Friday suspended its 11-day-old strike and directed the workers to resume work on Monday, June 8, PM News reports.

“After a successful negotiation, which led to the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the state government, the labour unions have resolved to suspend the strike," Mr Waheed Olojede, Chairman of the local chapter, NLC said.

He said part of the agreement was on how to pay the outstanding March, April and May salaries.

According to him, the unions agreed that workers on grade levels 1 to 12 would be paid in June while levels 13 and above would be paid later.

The union leader said that this was better than accepting 50 per cent salary for all categories of workers in the state.
