On Thursday, 49 senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP declared their support for the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
According to THE CABLE, the governors made the declaration during a press conference at the national assembly complex in Abuja on Thursday. Speaking on behalf of the senators, Godswill Akpabio, minority leader, said, ''The PDP senate caucus reiterates its support to Mr President Muhammadu Buhari and his quest to bring about a greater Nigeria. The PDP senate caucus, despite its formidable strength, has resolved to offer only credible opposition that would lead to the building of a better Nigeria. The caucus will give him all the needed support to ensure his success as president.'' .
The Senators, however criticised the government for its 'selective' war against corruption.
Some of the 49 Senators who declared support for Buhari are Ike Ekweremadu (deputy senate president, Enugu), Ben Murray-Bruce (Bayelsa), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), Theodore Orji (Abia) and Andy Uba (Anambra).
