N30m in His UBA Account? 4 Reasons You Might Disagree With Buhari's Asset Declaration

Presidential spokesman Shehu Garba yesterday released a statement saying President Muhammadu Buhari has N30m in his account and also some landed properties.

This didn't go down well with some sections in the country. How would Buhari have "just" N30m in his account? With the sketchy description of the properties Shehu Garba gave, one can argue the president is worth less than N100m.

The rumors making the round currently are that Shehu's statement doesn't reflect the true worth of the president. Here's why:

1. Yar'Adua when he declared his assets was worth close to N900m, Jonathan arguably was worth N300m on assuming office as president. President Buhari can't be worth more than N100m according to details released. Some don't believe a president can be worth much much less.

2. Yar'Adua had made documents of his asset declaration public. Buhari made a statement - through his spokesman. One can therefore say Buhari is yet to make his asset public, contrary to his campaign promise.

3. Wife of the president, Aishat Buhari, after the elections was spotted wearing a watch which reports say is worth close to N10m. Her husband has only N30m in the bank.

4. The the tuition fees for Buhari's many Daughters who study at Prestigious Universities abroad is worth over £ 30,000. It'll be hard to believe their father has N30m in his bank account.
