Former Governor Godswill Akpabio Arrested by EFCC Over Multi-billion Naira Fraud

 Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and incumbent Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, hs been arrested by the EFCC.

 

According to Premium Times, Akpabio is currently being drilled over alleged multi-billion naira fraud he perpetrated while holding political offices. 

“He was brought in at about 5.20 pm accompanied by a few aides and Mr. Rickey Tarfa,” an EFCC official said.

“It is not yet known whether he will be allowed to go this night. It depends on how the interrogation goes.”

President Muhammadu Buhari since his inauguration has pledged to root corruption out of the Nigerian system, which many believe is the main problem preventing the country's development.
